Murphy has been a little under the weather this week (too much playing at daycare...ha!) and so we made a vet visit one day and with the help of some meds he seems to be doing a lot better. She wanted to see him again in 5 days but they're closed on Sundays & Mondays & we just don't want to wait until sometime Tuesday to leave so we're going to gamble that he'll be fine. If his 'issue' continues, we'll see a vet in SD when we get there later next week.
There was a serious rain/wind storm here on Monday that left about 90,000 people without electricity for at least 24 hours. The latest figure I heard was 7000 still didn't have power on Thursday. We happened to be at Haulmark, inside their big building and Elkhart's city siren went off so we knew things were pretty serious. The wind was severe with plenty of rain but only lasted about 30 minutes and it was gone, however, in that 30 minutes a lot of damage was done. The RV park didn't even have a branch blown off, however, just a block over from us there were BIG trees down everywhere and that was true throughout the area. Other than the storm I just mentioned, we really have been fortunate weather wise this year here in IN with only a few days of hot and humid temperatures. We haven't even had to run the air conditioner at night. Today was in the 80's and a beautiful bright sunny day.
There really isn't too much news to report on. I did get fresh blueberries this week, some awesome bing cherries and some fresh big tomatoes like I remember as a kid (not the kind grown in a hot house). Loving this part of the midwest. Today I went to the Amish bakery and placed an order for for fresh cinnamon rolls, a homemade blackberry pie and some new little red potatoes to pick up on Saturday for my family when we arrive there Sunday.
I had this blog ready to post on Saturday, however, I got sick on Friday night and didn't even turn on the computer Saturday. What a terrible 24 hours it was but I'm pretty much back to normal again and we left Elkhart this morning as planned......and just in time as the heat wave has arrived to stay at least for the week.
We arrived here to the same heat and humidity so it looks like we won't escape it for several days as we leave here on Tuesday and head towards SD.
A friend posted this thought for the day on his blog and I thought it was worth repeating.....A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.
